Walk to School Outreach Pilot in Hertfordshire

Selected schools in Bushey, Hemel Hempstead, London Colney and Stevenage will be taking part in an exciting new Walk to School Outreach pilot programme to encourage more children to walk to school. The pilot will run in 13 schools from September 2011 until March 2012 and will involve fun events, lessons and incentives to increase walking to school.

The initiative will be delivered by Living Streets with close support from the Hertfordshire County Council Safe and Sustainable Journeys Team and funding from the Department for Transport.

The initiatives will be launched with a fun event in each school in October as part of International Walk to School Month. Travel data will be collected before and after the pilot to evaluate the success of the programme. We are looking to develop a successful model for working closely with schools to increase active travel which can then be rolled out across the country.

We will update this page as the pilot progresses. To contact the Walk to School Outreach Coordinator for more information please email shannon.boorer@livingstreets.org.uk
