"We have a lot of pupils who come on the school bus so we are giving them a stamp card to take home so that their parents can record a walk with them at the weekends. In the past our bus children have felt excluded. we hope this will give them the same rewards as everyone else."

"We live five miles from our children's school and, after dropping them off, we have to go on to work. Therefore, there is no way our children can walk to school. However, they would like to do so. Do you have any ideas please?"

The Walk To School initiative wants to encourage parents to Walk To School with their younger children. How else will they ever get the experience and confidence to deal with traffic when they're older? By walking with them you can really put road safety theory into practice.

"It's too dangerous for young children to walk alone!"

"I try to walk every day, except in pouring rain. Our journey would be so much more enjoyable if I wasn't constantly shouting "mind where you are walking" or "watch out for the pooh!" I think it is disgusting that people let their dogs foul the pavement in the immediate area of school - it makes the walk very unpleasant."
