Free Your Feet - The walking challenge for secondary schools
Thank you for purchasing Free Your Feet resources from Living Streets.
To find out how much the walking increases at your school, you'll need to administer two simple surveys, one before and one after your Free Your Feet challenge week.
Each survey takes less than two minutes to complete. Download the hands-up survey form below and share it with tutor group colleagues via email, or through this link (www.walktoschool.org.uk/handsup) to this page.
NB: pdf is better if you will be printing paper copies for your colleagues. Don't forget they will need two copies of the form. The Word version allows colleagues to fill in their form digitally and email it back to you.

Once your colleagues have handed you their completed survey forms, transfer the data to the Free Your Feet spreadsheet to get an instant picture of how much walking has increased, and even which tutor groups increased their walking most!

Finally, we'd love you to share your results with us! Once Free Your Feet is over, please come back to this page and tell us how it went at your school. Your feedback will help us improve what we offer to schools, and in return we'll help you celebrate your achievements!

Please Note
- Your 'before' survey should take place as near to the start of Free Your Feet week as is practical, but before you start promoting the challenge through assemblies, posters and banners.
- The hands-up form and spreadsheet are designed to allow registration group teachers to adminster the surveys, and for results to be created for each class, as well as an average result for the whole school. If you wish, you can collect hands-up data by year group, or even as a whole school.
- If you wish, you can do your 'After' survey during Free Your Feet week. This is likely to produce particularly impressive results! However, much of this extra walking may just be temporary. If you administer the 'After' survey the week following Free Your Feet week, it will more accurately record sustained modal shift!
- For greater accuracy, you should complete your second survey on the same day of the week that you did the first one.
Thank You !
