November 2010

The first time that we met we took the time to get to know each other. First we told each other our names. To get to know each other some more we played a game so that we would not be able to stay with the people we knew, it was so that we got to know different people. After that we split in to three groups of people that we did not know and came up with a mind map on why walking to school was a good idea. Then we shared our ideas with the groups. By the time that we had done this it was time for us to go to next lesson. When we came back we tried to come up with a name for our project. We came up with a few names but we agreed on one. We came up with Eco Big Foot.

January 2011

The snow meant that our December meeting was cancelled so this is the second time we have met. We were in three groups and were making posters, animations and logos for our Living Streets campaign. We were trying to get up and running with all the materials we have. We were drawing different things to come up with Eco Big Foot logo and designing posters for the children, adults and tutors. We set deadlines and had regular meetings to show the progress we'd made. Our logo design is below - we might still want to change the colours and will try new colourways out next time we meet with Sarah. We will be meeting without Sarah for several weeks and will try and keep this updated as we continue our plans.

March 2011

After many weeks of planning and developing our ideas, we have finally made some massive progress. We had an official meeting with our Principal, Miss Appleyard, to get her support to put our campaign into action. Some of us were really nervous and weren't sure if would be able to do it but we gathered round the boardroom table and told Miss Appleyard our ideas and she was really supportive. We came out feeling so excited about how well it had gone and since then we've already put our campaign into action. We decided to meet everyone on the school gate who came by car and handing them one of our flyers that promote walking to school. On top of that we will be emailing every student in the school the same information. People who receive the information will be able to enter a prize draw, but for us the most important thing is that they receive the information. Miss Appleyard was so impressed with our idea that the prize-giving will be held in a whole school assembly where, again, everyone will be reminded of why it's important to walk to school.
