Hold an event

It’s great that you want to get involved with promoting walking for one of the national awareness events. Running an event is the easiest way to raise awareness about walking to school, and also to have fun!

If enough people across the country run events and shout about the benefits of walking, we’ll be raising awareness nationally and attracting more media and political attention.

What do I do now?

1) The first thing you’ll need to do is to register for our monthly enews (sign up now at the top of this page). You will then be on our monthly e-news mailing list and receive further information and support.

2) If you are a local authority, or school, you can then order resources from our shop to help you encourage walking.

Our Walk to School Week and Walk to School Month pages will tell you about any themes or campaigns which you can link your event to, or you can come up with your own idea - the more creative, the better!

See previous Walk to School Week and Month activities.

3) Contact your local authority to ask if they are taking part. If they are, they can help - if not, run your own event and get other people on board to help!

4) Don't forget to get in touch! We love to know what people have been up to during Walk To School Week, so don’t forget to email us on walktoschool@livingstreets.org.uk with ideas, updates and suggestions.
