Branksome and Hurworth Schools, Darlington

This page has now been moved to the Step Up website: here

Filming for the project

Eight young people between the ages of 12 and 16 are working on a digital media presentation about their ideal walks to school.

The students are from Branksome School and Hurworth Comprehensive School in Darlington.

They will present their work to the WALK21 conference in Barcelona, an international gathering of professionals from all over the world, who promote walking as the best way to get from A to B.

Alongside their digital presentation, the students will work with eight young people from Barcelona to deliver a workshop, and get the voices of young people heard by influential professionals in the sustainable transport sector.

When they are not busy delivering presentations and workshops, the young people will be roving conference reporters, using their video journalism skills to discover new ways of campaigning.

Taking a close up

On their journey; by train from Darlington to Barcelona, and during the conference, the group will be sharing their interviews, pictures and stories to a worldwide audience. You can follow their adventures on this website from 5th October.

This project is kindly funded by Northern Film & Media, and Darlington Borough Council
