 Visiting the Streets
|
Fifteen year 9 pupils from Astley are exploring the walking routes around their school. They are finding out what would to make their streets better, for walking to school. With the help of an architect, they are designing street furniture which could get more teenagers walking to school.
The Astley group have put campaign boards around their school, to persuade their fellow pupils that walking to school is cool, fun, good for your health and good for the environment too.
Branding the Campaign
Thinking hard in the branding workshop
|
We want a brand and a logo that young people can relate to. We were sure young people could help us come up with something special. We tested our theory with Mrs Walmsley’s year 9 tutor group at Astley High School. We weren’t wrong. The students worked really hard and came up with some really good ideas. It worked so well we decided to ask young people all over the country to send us their ideas too. We offered a prize for the design which inspired our designers the most. We thought our designers might need some help choosing the winning design. Fortunately, two students from Astley High offered to jump on a train, come down to London from Northumberland, meet our designers and choose a winner. Thanks, Chris and Demi! And big thanks too, to their teacher Mrs. Walmsley, who came along to make sure they didn’t run away to join the circus!
