Wednesday 11 January 2012
Early results from schools in the Hertfordshire Walk to School Outreach programme are showing great increases in walking. Three of the schools involved have over 80 per cent of children walking to school at least once a week. The numbers of children walking every day have increased by over 20 per cent. In one class the daily walking rate had increased from only 37 per cent in October to 96 per cent in November. This pilot continues until the end of March 2012. Living Streets is applying for more funding to roll out the successful programme across the UK from September 2012.

WoW (Walk Once a Week) is our most popular scheme - children who walk at least once a week are rewarded with a highly collectable monthly pin badge.
